The purpose of a professional photographer is not just to record moments or faces but to give each person they work with an experience that opens their eyes to the person within, to join each of them on a journey of discovery of themselves.
One of my first experiences as a professional photographer was to photograph a dancer named Hope Strong, a talented young dancer and gymnast from Eastbourne. When we first met, she was this shy petite 10-year-old hiding behind her mum, but the moment she put on her dancing shoes she just lite up with confidence. She inspired me! It was such a privilege to be involved with this super talented young performer at the outset of what I am sure will be an amazing career in whatever she chooses to do within the performing arts.
That remarkable experience with Hope helped me set the focus of my new photographic business. I want to provide our many young, up-and-coming artists and performers with professional, affordable shoots for their growing portfolios. To have a small share in helping our talented youth progress in something they love.
I have a small home studio just outside Bexhill town centre which I use for professional headshots and simple poses (and on rainy days). I’ve found however that young ones much prefer being out in the open, rather than the confines of a studio, somewhere like the seafront greens, the beach or a favourite park where they can perform more naturally.
My mission as a Photographer is to give each of my clients a unique experience, one you’ll want to repeat over and over again. To help capture special moments in your life and the lives of your loved one, so that you can hold on to them forever.
My love affair with photography started some forty years ago whilst in my mid-teens, snapping just about everything I could find with my old Yashica 35mm camera and a 200mm lens. But then life happened!
Thirty years later when my life took an unexpected turn, I decided to rekindle this once loved hobby to fill the voids life had created. I was at that time living on the beautiful East Coast of Scotland where finding beautiful views to capture was a daily occurrence. Driving through those tranquil hills and open glens of that amazing country I was so often greeted with breathtaking beauty and colour! A landscape photographer's dream! The amazing vistas, endless skies and the abundant wildlife were so often crowned by amazing sunrises and glorious sunsets.
Now some ten years on, and in my mid-fifties and living back on the South Coast of England, I have finally taken the leap and turned my beloved hobby into a business.
I want to focus my business on, young performers, children, and families, as a ex-school bus driver, and having rasied 7 children of my own I am comforatable around with kids and I enjoy their simple uncomplicate appreciation of life and of the camera.
I am still learning my trade, and I am sure I will be for many more years to come, but I will give you my best and hopefully together we will create some great memories you will love and treasure!
My Love of Scotland & its Beauty!
